Letter of the week: T Timothy Tiger

Please be sure to practice Star words – new words will come home each Friday!  Send the whole ring of words back each Monday in the bus (homework) folder and Mrs. Faurot adds more each week! At the end of the year there is a pizza party for those who know their words!
The kids are doing wonderful with their beginning reading!  We continue to practice letters, sounds, and reading the pictures in our books as strategies for reading our best!

Hello Kindergarten Friends,
I am having some trouble with both of my computers at school, so I apologize I haven't been able to upload my newsletters yet.  I hope to be able to work out the bugs soon.
In our news this week, we have focused on the letter "M", counting and writing our numbers up to 5, learning the parts of a book, our Daily 5 routine, our first 3 sight words, set up writer's workshop and continue learning our Zoophonics Letter sounds and movements.
Mrs. Donovan has welcomed her new class and we have said goodbye to 8 of our classmates this week.  We are excited for their new experience and happy to have a little extra breathing room for our learning in kindergarten!
Students are doing well learning our daily routine and continue to amaze me by the amount they can learn in a day!  Please continue to practice how to tie shoes, cutting, writing and recognizing letters and numbers, and learning our star sight words.
Here are some great websites which are fun and educational:

http://www.knowledgeadventure.com/

Be sure to look for your child's new Homework folder.  This will come home each week with a new book for practice at home.  You will also see star sight words coming home on a ring for practice.  They do need to be returned each week for us to add to the ring.

Have a wonderful day!
Heather

We are adding another section of kindergarten to lower our class sizes.  We are very excited to have Mrs. Donovan back!  Thank you to all those parents who volunteered to move their child.  We feel this was in the best interest of your children, however we are sorry for any confusion this may cause.  Our kindergarten staff is ready for Monday's transition and will be there to help with any issues that may arise.  Thank you very much!

Welcome to Kindergarten!

Please remember to send lunch money in an envelope labelled with your child's name and my name for us to send to our office for payment.

Our special classes are as follows:
Monday - Health
Tuesday - Gym (please wear tennis shoes)
Wednesday - Computers
Friday - Computers

A healthy breakfast and plenty of sleep will make our days go much better!  Kindergarten is a big adjustment for some children and they will need all the help they can get!

Please pick up your child at 2:55 in the kindergarten hallway if your child is not riding a bus.  You can park in the back parking lot to miss the busy traffic area in the front.  If there is a change in the way your child gets home from school, please send a note.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at hbross@mvs.k12.mi.us.

I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child this year!!!

Thank you,
Heather Bross

Hello everyone,
I am so excited!  I have worked in my room and it is coming together nicely.  Fuller is full of activity.  If you haven't heard, we are bringing a new literacy library in!  The new room has a stage for reader's theater, plays, and all sorts of wonderful kid activities.  We hope to have it looking like a Barnes and Nobles bookstore before August 29th!  I think our 4th and 5th grade students will be very happy with all the prep that is being done for their arrival!!!

Here are some dates to remember...July 21st - Library work day, August 13th - "Restore the Roar" clean up day, and our Open House will be August 29th.

Kindergarten websites to check out!  Let me know what you think...

Mrs. Bross's Class Newsletter!

March 28th-7:00 Community Meeting in the High School auditorium to discuss our options as our budget crisis continues!  Please attend if you can. We will have many changes again next year. Fuller or Maplewood will be closed and the 6th grade will go to the high school.
March 28th – DUE MONDAY!!!!!!!  Think About It!  Michigan: Economy, Industry or Government due
April 1st- last day of school before Spring Break!!!!

Think About It! –Please remember when completing the next topic, Michigan: Economy, Industry or Government, I am looking for a visual and a written portion.  The written portion must include 5 paragraphs (like our essays) including a lead, 3 bullets (topic sentence paragraphs including at least 3 detail sentences for each), and a closing.  The students KNOW how to write in this form as we have just completed our essay portion in writer’s workshop.  This IS NOT something that can be copied and pasted from the internet.  Students need to write this in their own words.  Thank you!

Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop-We are finishing our Mystery genre.  We are working on our Daily CafĂ©…Comprehension, Accuracy, Fluency and Expanded Vocabulary!
Spelling- We continue with unit 12 this week, including compound words, r controlled vowels, possessive nouns and suffixes.  Our test will be Wednesday.
Math-Math test on Thursday or Friday next week!

We are in need of more Clorox wipes and class snacks if anyone is wiling to donate, we would really appreciate it.  Thank you!
