Bross's Bunch of News

Mrs. Bross's Bunch of News

Math
We are working on double and triple digit addition. Please review your child’s classroom work. Some students are still having trouble with place value. Please be sure your child remembers to add starting in the ones place.
Reader's Workshop
We are reading ‘Holes’ as a class aloud. This is a wonderful book that teaches many lessons throughout the story. Ask your child to retell what we have read.
Writer's Workshop
Students are learning various ways to develop stories. This week we used timelines to continue our stories in sequence.
Spelling
I have quizzed our students on units 1-3. The words highlighted are words your child should continue to practice at home.
Science
We are “digging” into science with Rocks and Minerals this week! Students conducted our first scientific experiment in a rock scratch test this week. Ask your child what they observed in their experiment.
Bross Bucks
Our class will begin incorporating a new ‘credit’ and ‘debit’ banking system on Monday. Students will be given a ‘credit’ tally if they are completing homework on time, bringing their signed daily planner and Book Bag from home to school each day, wearing gym shoes on Wednesdays, bringing library books back on Thursdays, along with various other responsibilities. If students are not completing the tasks as of them, they will then give themselves a ‘debit’. At the end of the week the tallies will be calculated and Bross Bucks will be given as earned. The Bross Bucks may be used at our school store on Friday morning or saved to be used later. Any small ‘dollar store’ type items you would like to donate to our store would be greatly appreciated. I have a small amount and will be purchasing more this weekend.
I have had several students tell me they cannot find their book from our Book Bag program. Please help your child find our classroom book and return it as soon as possible. We want every child to have the chance to read a book every night! Students will be given a $10.00 credit for brining back their reading slips for our Million Minute Challenge signed each Tuesday! So keep reading and sending those slips in!!!!!!!!!

Upcoming dates: November 11th – School starts at 10:55 a.m.
November 19th – Picture Retake day
